So excited to reveal a snippet of this beautiful custom that I've finished up! So exciting to be working with cork again, but learning new skills to bring ideas to life.

This is a stunning extra wide cork leather collar with metal quick release buckle.

A sheet of super soft, dark purple cork has been lovingly glued and stitched to create a 5cm thickness. Perfect for being seen over all the fluff.

Happy Birthday to our CEO Lewik. Our eldest boy is now 4 🥺

As an early birthday treat, I took him on a 15km hike around the Llyn Y Fan Circular. He's the absolute best adventure buddy going. We braved rain, mud and 19km/h winds and his collar still looks vibrant as ever.

His very own Triple T collar has also battled rivers, poop and little collie brothers hanging off of it and still looks great. The buckle may be scratched from wear and tear and a few loose threads. But what I love about these waterproof collars, is that I can physically see them stand the test of time. Biothane and neoprene collars gradually break releasing mircoplastics into the environment. And once they're broken they have to be replaced.

The waterproof material can be changed over and over if it becomes worn and damaged. It can be taken and reused for stuffing in beds and/or toys. Should the strong hemp webbing break, it can be put into a compost bin, biodegrading back into the environment. Full circle.

Time to stand fully by my creations 💪🏼❤️

Being a small business owner, I can't just 'raise' money, I need to do something special. So this time I have created a special range of bandanas and ties that represent the many cancers that those supported by Tenovus may have.

Every type of cancer is represented by a 'coloured ribbon', some of which you may recognise. The universal colour for general cancer is lavender, and is the generic colour being paired with this print. However, if you wish to request a specific cancer colour for your bandana/tie you can message discreetly at checkout.

ALL proceeds are being donated, excluding postage costs. To ensure this happens, orders will only be available on my website to limit fees which could affect the final donation total.

There will also be an optional addition at checkout to include an extra donation fee, should you wish. There is no obligation for anyone to do this, it is merely an option.

Making bed covers is what led to the creation of Ticks Treasure Trove, and I'm happy to say they're still going strong.

Over the years, as a small business, you have to fine tune your skills and continue to strive to make everything that little bit better when you can. While I'm not in a position to buy more fancy equipment which would make this easier for myself, I've learnt a lot of little things along the way. The best way to tidy up the edges and seams, how to effortlessly sew a zipper (90% there) and how to learn from bigger brands.

For the last few covers I've made, I've made alterations in an effort to make them look more 'expensive and put together' and I think the little extra fabric 'pockets' over the zipper ends, does just that.

Hello 👋🏼 It's been a minute hasn't it!?

I'll be honest, it's been a brutal month or so and for the first time I was genuinely in a position to close up shop. I wasn't sure if it was going to be temporary or permanent, so something had to be neglected and that was the socials. It's definitely disrupted the flow of the business and orders have slowed but it was needed. I've had to replace a full batch of orders due to issues, and I haven't gotten them out as quickly as I would have liked, so thank you to all those that have been understanding and patient. I'm just about caught up and by the end of this weekend my to-do list can be reset.

Now my head is in a better place, business can resume to some normality. I've put bigger plans, such as the new beds on the back burner until my mental health and time is in the right place to proceed. However, I still have some smaller plans underway with new products and other little surprises.

Finally, I get to show you what I've been up to over the last few weeks. Here are two Zero Waste collars made for some friends. The collars were premade but they had just bought new air-tags for the dogs. A little bit of fiddling with a design, these two collars now have matching pockets ❤️

We've got an amazing new interactive photobooth for you to enjoy. While dogs can't attend, It'll be kitted out with some fun costumes and accessories to dress up with including the cloak Iago is wearing. SLOW FASHION > FAST FASHION

Over the last few weeks I've seen more and more fellow small businesses speak up about the impact of fast fashion, especially in the pet industry. Fighting a saturated market is frankly, quite exhausting. I've put off releasing so many products recently, because I feel like I can't compete. And that leads to feeling like I've lost a lot of potential customers, have imposter syndrome and I feel defeated.

Everywhere I look all the dogs are wearing the generic harness, collar and lead sets. They may be different patterns and businesses, but if you look carefully they're all the same. Am I a hypocrite for creating waterproof accessories and using plastic buckles? Maybe. But I feel the rest of my practices outweigh this. The waterproof material I use isn't covered with unnecessary PU coating, and comes from an eco-conscious supplier. When I use plastic buckles it's for products that are likely to get wet, to prolong the life of the item, so it isn't damaged by rusting hardware. When financially feasible, I will look into recycled plastic buckles and continue to make changes, not just to my business but to my life, to make it a little greener.

Over the last few weeks I've seen more and more fellow small businesses speak up about the impact of fast fashion, especially in the pet industry. Fighting a saturated market is frankly, quite exhausting. I've put off releasing so many products recently, because I feel like I can't compete. And that leads to feeling like I've lost a lot of potential customers, have imposter syndrome and I feel defeated.

Everywhere I look all the dogs are wearing the generic harness, collar and lead sets. They may be different patterns and businesses, but if you look carefully they're all the same. The parcel behind Bryn was something that had been keeping me busy for the last few weeks! Last week, I finally sent off my biggest order to date; a number of waterproof bed covers heading to a veterinary clinic in Scotland. I'm hoping they will keep any future patients very comfortable.

I can't wait to get back from this little refresh and start on some exciting new projects and prep for our first event of the year!

Tucker wore the Grass in Always Greener collar from the OG Collection and it is still one of my favourites. The colour green and sheep is a winning combination in my eyes 🐑

When I brought out my cork accessories last year, I knew it would be a huge gamble. Sometimes, people just aren't ready for change. So I let it be. I kept all the products listed and told myself, if someone really wanted it, then they would buy it.

Well it's happened. This beautiful cork ID collar is on its way to a new home. 😍

This eco-friendly alternative to leather and vegan leather, is just what the environment needs. It's also extremely lightweight, hypoallergenic and water-resistant. And if by chance it breaks you can pop it into your compost bin to be returned to the land it came from.

Hopefully this year, I will teach myself some leather working skills to create more gorgeous things with cork and my shop can go up a step in sustainability and style ❤️

Here's a little reminder that we sell muddy paw cloths for those times you need a little clean up and carrying a towel is overkill. Our cloths are 20cmx20cm and made from antibacterial hemp towelling and cotton offcuts.

Each cloth comes with its own mini carabiner, so on your next adventure, you can just clip and go.
